33.09 percent voter turnout in Armenian presidential election by 14:00

836,710 voters, or 33.09% of the total electorate had voted by 14:00 local time (same as Moscow time) in the presidential elections, CEC member Silva Markosian said, News-Armenia reported.

836,710 voters, or 33.09% of the total electorate had voted by 14:00 local time (same as Moscow time) in the presidential elections, CEC member Silva Markosian said, News-Armenia reported.

According to official police data, the electoral register in Armenia as of February 17 included 2,505,980 voters.

At the previous presidential elections, voter turnout as of the same time was 36.48 per cent, or 846,952 voters.

The sixth Armenian presidential elections are underway today from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for five years.

Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan, chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andreas Ghukasyan and Vardan Setrakyan.
