A delegation of U.S. Congress arrived in Tbilisi with a two-day visit. The delegation consists of six congressmen, led by Republican Bill Shuster, the U.S. Embassy in Georgia told Trend.

A delegation of U.S. Congress arrived in Tbilisi with a two-day visit. The delegation consists of six congressmen, led by Republican Bill Shuster, the U.S. Embassy in Georgia told Trend.

The delegation also includes Congressmen Jason Altmaier (Democrat, Pennsylvania), Brett Guthrie (Republican,Kentucky), Jeff Dehem (Republican, California), Blake Feretnthold (Republican, Texas), Adam Kanzinger (Republican, Illinois). They represent committees of veterans' affairs, energy, trade, transport and infrastructure.

The senators will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, First Deputy Defense Minister Nodar Kharshiladze, and representatives of the opposition during the visit.

The delegation will visit a private medical clinic, as well as joint Georgian-American exercises, in the frame of which the Georgian troops are trained for the NATO operation in Afghanistan.

Bill Shuster is a member of the House of Representatives since 2001. He is a member of the Committee on Armed Services, and oversees the Energy and Finance.
