Russian Foreign Ministry upbeat over JCC Talks

(www.civil.ge) - In a statement issued on August 14 the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the forthcoming session of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) will give a new impetus to the process of the Georgian-South Ossetian settlement.

The Russian side expects that the Moscow session of the Joint Control Commission will secure the progress, which was achieved in the Georgian-South Ossetian settlement in the light of recent decisions of the Commission, the Russian Foreign Ministry said, reports Trend.

A session of the Joint Control Commission will be held in Moscow on August 17-18.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the sides will basically focus of the following issues: the launch of the activities of a joint working group that was set up to develop a joint program on South Ossetian conflict resolution; the interaction between the South Ossetian and Georgian law enforcers in the conflict zone; the current situation in the conflict zone and priority measures on its demilitarization; economic rehabilitation of the conflict zone.
