Egypt denies rumoured Mubarak trip to Germany for treatment

Egyptian diplomatic sources denied reports in Lebanon that President Hosni Mubarak is due to leave Egypt for Germany for a new round of medical treatment, Egyptian daily al-Masry al-Youm reported on Wednesday, DPA reported.

Mubarak is scheduled to meet Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in Egypt on Saturday, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, al-Masry al-Youm reported.

The Lebanese daily As Safir reported Tuesday "that it had learned that Mubarak will leave Egypt in the coming 48 hours for Munich."

Mubarak was treated at the University clinic in Heidelberg, Germany, earlier this year. The clinic on Tuesday refused to confirm whether Mubarak was expected for treatment.

The Israeli media has recently reported speculation that Mubarak is suffering from Esophageal cancer.
