US President Barack Obama says a Washington-led coalition fighting against the ISIL terrorist group in Iraq and Syria is "on the offensive" and will win, Press TV reported.
Obama made the remarks in a press conference on Wednesday, hours after he asked Congress to authorize a three-year war against ISIL "and associated forces."
He also said that the United States "should not get dragged back into another prolonged ground war in the Middle East."
But the US could deploy Special Forces troops against ISIL if needed, he added.
