Mongolian man jailed for using stolen card with woman's name

( dpa ) - A Mongolian man was jailed for 21 months for trying to use a stolen credit card with a woman's name to purchase jewellery, news reports said on Tuesday.

Dandar Enerel, 25, fancied a diamond ring and white gold bracelet worth 2,500 Singapore dollars (1,760 US). He took out the card to pay for the items on December 19, The Straits Times said.

Alert staff at the store suspected the name on the card, Yeo Jia Yeh, was that of a women, the district court heard on Monday.

The card, as well as another one, had been taken by Enerel's accomplice, a man who is still at large.

Enerel pleaded guilty to dishonestly receiving stolen property and conspiracy to cheat.

The accomplice who stole the cards had passed them to Enerel.
