The work is underway in Istanbul to rescue the crew of a stranded freighter, Trend reports via the Organization for the Management of Maritime Transport of Turkey Dec. 19.
As part of the rescue work, seven of 16 crew members were evacuated from the freighter that ran aground on the shore of Istanbul’s Sile district due to a heavy storm.
The heavy storm led to the flooding of a number of offices in Istanbul's Beylikduzu district.
Due to the heavy storm, a canal was flooded in the city's Arnavutkoy district and as a result, six people were evacuated.
Earlier, sea voyages were cancelled due to strong winds in Istanbul.
