Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) said security measures have bee strengthened at the Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, as well as all regional airports throughout Azerbaijan.

"Under an instruction from management of the Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, security measures have been strengthened at the Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, and all the regional airports in Azerbaijan," AZAL told Trend Nov. 17.

"These measures have been taken in the wake of the incident that occurred on board the crashed Airbus A321," the airline explained.

AZAL also said the work of all the security services at the country's airports was thoroughly analyzed, and on-site briefings were carried out with the airports' employees with regard to increasing aviation safety regimes.

"Civil aviation facilities undergo regular check-ups and planned strengthening of control measures," said the airline.

Earlier on Oct. 31, an Airbus 321 of Russian airline Kogalymavia, which was flying from Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh to Saint Petersburg, crashed in Sinai.

The disaster, which is the largest in the Russian and Soviet aviation history, killed 217 passengers and seven crew members.

Today, Alexander Bortnikov, head of Russian Federal Security Service, said that the examinations of personal belongings and luggage of those who were in the plane, as well as the plane's elements, revealed the trails of an explosive substance.
