New Year’s bonus averages $185 in Kazakhstan

The 13th salary foundation in Kazakhstan exceeded 118 billion KZT in 2014, which is 19 billion KZT more than in 2013, the analytical service Ranking.kz said.

The official exchange rate for Jan.29 is 184.45 KZT / $1.

"The New Year's bonus of average worker is more than 34,000 KZT to a month's salary," the analysts said. "Salary fund for the year (December 2014-2013) grew by 70.8 billion KZT (14.6 percent) to 556.9 billion KZT. More than 21 percent of them fell on bonus payments to employees."

The largest growth of the salary fund was observed in Astana (plus 13.3 billion KZT to 69.2 billion KZT), Almaty (plus 12.3 billion KZT to 99.7 billion KZT), and Mangistau region (plus 12.2 billion KZT, to 50.1 billion KZT).

"The greatest growth of bonus fund was in Mangistau region (plus 6.2 billion KZT to 18.3 billion KZT)," analysts said. "On average in Kazakh Republic, the bonus fund amounted to 21.2 percent of the salary. The highest rate is in the Mangistau region, where the volume of bonuses reached 36.6 percent of the salary. For comparison, in 2013 the volume of bonuses amounted to 20.4 percent of the salary, while it did not exceed 19 percent 5 years ago. The highest rate was recorded in 2012 (21.4 percent of the salary)."

Bonuses per employee averaged 33, 800 KZT. The highest bonuses are in Mangistau region (115,900 KZT), Astana (85,000 KZT) and Atyrau region (55,600 KZT).
