Azerbaijan and France will discuss the issue of producing the French mineral water Evian in Azerbaijan, Elman Mammadov, the counsellor of the Azerbaijani embassy in France, said as part of the Azerbaijani-French business meeting Nov. 26.

He said that this issue will be discussed as part of the Azerbaijani delegation's visit to the city of Evian in December.

"Our delegation will discuss the possibility of establishing the Evian mineral water production in the city of Ismayilli and learn from the experience of French colleagues in the production of mineral water and glass bottles," he said.

Evian is a brand of the French premium mineral water coming from several sources around the town of Évian-les-Bains (a south shore of Lake Geneva). Danone has owned this brand since 1970.

Mammadov stressed that at present, the inter-regional cooperation between Azerbaijan and France is at a high level.

He said that some 12 Azerbaijani cities signed a cooperation agreement with 10 cities and one province in France.

"The history of cooperation between our regions began in 1979 when Baku and Bordeaux twinned," he said. "I would like to stress that the representatives of Bordeaux have visited Baku this year. We discussed the construction of urban infrastructure, roads and other issues. Moreover, our regions are actively collaborating in the production of grapes and wine, cattle breeding."

The prospects of cooperation between the French port and the Baku International Trade Port were discussed as part of the meeting.
