Turkey's BOTAS Petroleum Pipeline Corporation imported 14.98 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in January-April 2015, BOTAS said June 1, thereby importing 2 percent more gas compared to the same period of 2014 (15.01 billion cubic meters).

Azerbaijan is one of such sources. Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan via the South Caucasus pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum). Turkey has a contract on purchasing 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field per year.

BOTAS imported almost 40 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in 2014, compared to 36.1 billion cubic meters in 2013.

Moreover, BOTAS export operations accounted for 201 million cubic meters of gas in Jan.-April compared to 231 million cubic meters a year earlier.

In total, the company's export operations accounted for 644 million cubic meters of gas in 2014, compared to 694 million cubic meters in 2013.

Some 16.28 billion cubic meters of gas were sold on Turkey's domestic market in Jan.-April 2015, compared to 14.93 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2014.

This figure was equal to 40.81 billion cubic meters as of 2014, compared to 37.96 billion cubic meters in 2013.
