By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

Oil production in Azerbaijan may drop to 38 million tons per year until 2025, said Tariel Mirzayev, head of Strategic Development and Investment Projects Department at the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of ‘The 2nd SOCAR International Caspian and Central Asia Downstream Forum – Trading, Logistics, Refining, Petrochemicals’, held in Baku Apr. 25.

He said oil production until 2020 may amount to about 39 million tons per year given an annual slight decrease, and starting from 2020 oil production will already reach 38 million tons per year.

Mirzayev said these forecasts were prepared by the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC on the basis of statistical data of the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR and other sources.

He noted that total throughput of the Baku-Supsa and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipelines is 57.4 million tons of oil, and this allows Azerbaijan to supply oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan through these pipelines.

In 2016, Azerbaijan produced 41.03 million tons of oil and gas condensate, which is 1.5 percent less than in 2015.

The main oil output in Azerbaijan accounts for the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of oil and gas fields.
