Iranian gas delivery to Nakhchivan might start in mid-November

“The Iranian gas delivery to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) can start from mid- November 2005, Alikhan Malikov,” the chairman of Azerigas JSC, told Trend.

According to Malikov, Azerbaijan fully implemented its commitments under the project
on rehabilitation of the gas supply to the NAR. "Even today we are ready to receive Iranian gas and deliver Azerbaijani gas to Iran in Astara. However, the current state of work here demonstrate around a month is required to complete the work,” Malikov underlined.

The head of Azerigas said that the construction of 130m-subsea gas pipeline via the Araz River, running the Azerbaijani-Iranian birder, is underway.

In the first stage the Iranian gas import to the NAR will comprise 52 million cu, in 2006 250 million cu m, while from 2007 it will be increased to 350 million cu m. The volume of gas will be returned to Iran in Astara.
