BP intends to purchase stake in TANAP

British BP intends to become a shareholder in the Trans-Anatolian pipeline project (TANAP), acquiring part of share of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the project, BP's representative in Turkey Bud Fackrell, who is also responsible for BP Turkey's activities in Azerbaijan and Georgia, said. "The TANAP project is of interest for the entire region, and therefore we support it. BP received SOCAR's offer to purchase part of its share. We intend to purchase a stake in this project," Fackrell said. However, he did not say what percent of the SOCAR's share the company intends to acquire, stressing that the issue will be discussed and a final decision will be made by mid-2013.

Preliminary dates of first well drilling on perspective block in Azerbaijan announced

The start of the first exploration well drilling at the Shafag-Asiman structure is planned for 2015. According to BP's report on the first half of 2012, the 3D seismic is followed by data processing which will continue into 2013. Then some 18 months will be required for data interpretation and another year for planning of the first exploration well.

Atyrau refinery to receive credit from Development Bank of Kazakhstan

The Atyrau refinery has signed a loan agreement with the Development Bank of Kazakhstan on Friday to build a deep refining complex, the National Oil and Gas Company KazMunaiGas said. The loan amount is $252 million. The construction project of deep refining complex is the final phase of the complete reconstruction of the Atyrau refinery. It is designed to process 2.4 million tons of raw materials (oil, vacuum gas oil) per year.

Turkmenistan conducts geodynamic monitoring at oil and gas pipeline sections

Scientists of the Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan are conducting geodynamic monitoring in areas of laying of oil and gas pipelines. Monitoring involves, first of all, seismic monitoring over manifestations of natural and man-made seismic, geodetic observations of vertical and horizontal shifts in the surface deposits, geophysical (gravimetric, geomagnetic, geo-electric) observations of the internal state of the field and hydrogeological, hydrogeochemical and operational. The Institute is also developing a new general seismic zoning map of the entire country.
