Construction materials account for around 13 percent of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan

Some 30,330 tons of cement worth $2.22 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2014.

Some 30,330 tons of cement worth $2.22 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2014, according to a report posted on the GruzStat website, the National Statistical Service of Georgia.

The specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 2.83 percent in the reporting period.

The volume of cement exports from Georgia decreased by 45.85 percent, or 25,220 tons in a year. For comparison, some 55,550 tons of cement worth $4.1 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2013.

In the reporting period, the growth of steel bar exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan was also observed. Some 12,550 tons of steel bars to the amount of $7.87million was exported to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2014 which is 84.3 percent more than in the same period of 2013. For comparison, Azerbaijan imported about 6,790 tons of steel bars worth $4.27 million from Georgia in Jan.-Feb. 2013. The specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 10.02 percent in the reporting period.

In total, some $74.53 million worth of goods was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2014 and this figure accounted for 24.3 percent of the total volume of the country's exports during the reporting period. Exports to Azerbaijan decreased by 14.47 percent compared to the same period of 2013. For comparison, $87.14 million worth of goods was exported to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2013.

Azerbaijan maintains second position in the list of the largest trade partners of Georgia.

Georgia exports vehicles, livestock (live weight), steel bars, cement, mineral water, glass and glass products and medicines to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan in turn, exports oil and oil products, natural gas, freight transport and construction materials to Georgia.
