Ashgabat hosted a briefing on March 29, dedicated to Turkmenistan’s presidency at the Energy Charter Conference in 2017, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message.
During the briefing, organized by the country’s Foreign Ministry with the participation of Energy Ministry and Turkmenneft state concern, detailed information was provided on main directions of concept of Turkmenistan’s presidency at this structure.
Moreover, participants became acquainted with program and plan of events planned to be held in Turkmenistan and abroad in 2017. International events will be held in Ashgabat, Brussels, New York, Beijing, Hong Kong and Tehran.
Ensuring energy efficiency and energy saving, introduction of innovative technologies, ecological aspect and use of renewable energy sources, principles of economic and commercial validity of investments in the energy sector, their protection and improvement of efficiency are among directions of concept of Turkmenistan’s presidency.
Turkmenistan is one of the rich countries for its natural gas resources. According to BP, the country’s recoverable reserves are estimated at 17.5 trillion cubic meters of gas or nine percent of total global reserves, which puts Turkmenistan on the fourth position in this field after Iran, Russia and Qatar.
