Iranian Amir Kabir University is testing its newly manufactured AUT SAT satellite, head of the university, Alirza Rahayi said, IRNA reported.
He noted that the satellite was manufactured by the students of the university, adding that the construction of the satellite has already been finished, and currently the project is in the testing stage.
He said that after the testing period is completed, the satellite will be delivered to Iran's Space Agency. The total weight of the satellite is 70-80 kg.
Rahayi said that strict standards in construction of the satellite were used, adding that once launched, the satellite will be used for observing Earth, and also for assessing Iran's agricultural production, and other things, such as natural disasters.
Amir Kabir University and Iran's Aerospace Industries Organization signed a production agreement on AUT SAT satellites in 2009.
