Baku, Azerbaijan, June 7
By Fatih Karimov - Trend:
Iran will unveil a 6-seat plane, manufactured by domestic experts, by the end of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20, 2016), said Secretary of Iran's Technology Development and Knowledge-based Aviation and Aeronautical Industries Headquarters Manouchehr Manteghi.
The national aviation industry has grown notably over the past three decades, so that the technology for manufacturing 2, 4, and 6-seat planes has been indigenized, Iran's ISNA news agency quoted Manteghi as saying on June 7.
An 8-seat plane will be also manufactured in the near future, he said, adding that manufacturing drones is also on the agenda.
In 2013, Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) announced that a number of home-made passenger planes, capable of carrying 80, 100 and 150 passengers, will join the country's air fleet.
The country plans to manufacture three domestically-designed passenger planes by 2026.
On April 15, CAO Director Alireza Jahangirian said that foreign aircraft industries have been competing to get into a deal with Iran once the sanctions against the country over its nuclear program are lifted.
