The furnace of Iran's Keyvan Ardakan Steel Plant, located in central province of Yazd, exploded on Saturday night, causing huge financial losses.

No casualties were reported, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported on September 14.

The exact reason of the explosion is still unclear, but reports suggest that a leak caused the blast.

The estimated financial loss stands at 4 trillion rials (some $129 million based on the exchange rate of USD at the free market).

The plant is jointly owned by Iranian and Indian investors. The unit has 144 workers, out of which 33 are Indians.

Another explosion at the same plant claimed the life of one worker last year.
