Public discussion under the title "In the Context of Social Development and Strong Economy" of a book "Azerbaijani Model of Development" by Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, Chief-of-Staff the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, was held. The book has been published under the edition of Ali Hasanov, Chief of the President's Office's public and political department.
The International Relations Research Center arranged the event. Center Head Rufiz Gonagov provided detailed information of the book. It is important to develop scientific-theoretical essentials of the development model of the Azerbaijani economy, and to carry out detailed research works in this direction.
Academician Mehdiyev, Full State Adviser and Full Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, is the idea author of the book and wrote a foreword Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev. Ph.D Ali Hasanov is the book's editor and Honored Journalist Bahtiyar Sadygov and chief editor of Azerbaijan newspaper and Member of the Azerbaijani parliament, is person in charge of issue.

The book consists of a foreword and three chapters.
The book deals with the science-based socioeconomic policy that has been developed and pursued in Azerbaijan over the past 17 years and describes reforms as issues characterizing national model of development. The book focuses on key socioeconomic events, which provided the 1994-2009 transitional period in the economy, instructions and decrees issued by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and his worthy successor, President Ilham Aliyev, the state programs and other legal acts, and the chronology of successes. Besides, the book analyzes the transitional process of transformation and reformation of the previous socioeconomic relations and institutes in Azerbaijan in accordance with the market-based economy, and formation of new relations and institutes.
"Choice of one of world's economic models became essential since Azerbaijan gained its independence," Rauf Zeyni, Head of the National NGO Forum, stated in his speech. "Though several economic models existed in the world at that time, the National Leader Heydar Aliyev created an Azerbaijani economy model that is being implemented successfully by President Ilham Aliyev. International organizations point out to a dynamical development of the Azerbaijani economy."
According to Zeyni, the Azerbaijani economy model is thoughtful and meets the requirements of the national ideology of Azerbaijan.
MP Evda Abramov said Azerbaijan, with its economy model, can be an example for countries, which will step the path of a market-based economy.
"The entire former Soviet republics chose the path of a market-based economy; however, Azerbaijan faced numerous problems at the time as its economy had been multi-profile and the neighboring states wanted to take over the country's national wealth," Abramov said. "Azerbaijan's economic successes are based upon the correct use of oil export revenues."
MP Gular Ahmedova condemned the European Union's latest statement on Azerbaijan. "The EU does not see the economic development in Azerbaijan over several recent years," she said. "Instead, events not related to Azerbaijan are stressed particularly and used as a mean of propaganda against the country. The facts disclosed in the book are a worthy answer to the entire unfriendly gestures against Azerbaijan. Reforms in Azerbaijan have always been implemented dynamically, culminating in success.
Ahmedova noted the book gives a detailed, sequential description of reforms under implementation in Azerbaijan.
MPs Chinghis Ganizadeh and Fazil Mustafa said issues reflected in the book were important.
