USAID launches realization of Initiative for Regional Development project in Uzbekistan

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Civil Society and the Academy of State and Social Construction under the Uzbek President has announced about launching the "Initiative for Regional Development" project in the republic today.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Civil Society and the Academy of State and Social Construction under the Uzbek President has announced about launching the "Initiative for Regional Development" project in the republic today.

The aim of the project is to accelerate the potential of local authorities in close relations and partnership with people to improve management efficiency.
The main directions of the project will be the support for the efforts of local authorities in improving the services and involving the citizens in planning and implementing the projects. The project will run until September 2012.

The project director Marilyn Davis said that improving the potential of local authorities in providing the services is crucial for Uzbekistan in the long run perspective.

The project is one of a number of the USAID projects, implemented in Uzbekistan.
