The United States is looking forward to further development of security and defence relations with Azerbaijan, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Eric Rubin said on Dec. 5 in Baku.

"I am glad to be back in Baku. I had very good meetings with Azerbaijani friends and partners, and we are looking forward to continuing discussions in the weeks and months ahead," Rubin said.

He went on to add that the U.S. has great hopes that many tasks related to building strong relations contributing to security and prosperity of peoples of both countries would be accomplished in the next year.

Rubin also spoke about his meeting with the Azerbaijan's Ministerof Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.

"I had a good meeting with the new minister of defence and congratulated him. We look forward to continuing to develop our security and defence relationships with Azerbaijan and hope to build the partnership with the Defense Ministry," Rubin added.
