The 12th Eurasian Media Forum was opened at the Palace of Independence in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, on April 24.

This meeting will allow its participants to discuss the topical issues of the media community which arise at the present stage, Dariga Nazarbayeva, the chairman of the organizing committee of the Eurasian Media Forum, said while opening the event.

The discussions will focus on the dramatic events that take place in a number of CIS countries and the Middle East, she added.

"Many unspoken rules of the world order that emerged after the Cold War, are no longer in force. And each major player interprets these rules in his own way and proneness to conflict grows in different parts of the world. We are worried about Ukraine - our friend and reliable partner," Nazarbayeva said.

The organizing committee head specified the following topics to be discussed on the first day of the event: 'The New world order. Contours of the global crisis and its consequences', 'Iran's nuclear program. Who is the winner and who is the loser?', ' Middle East knot. What is the main balance of power in the region?'.

The second day of the forum will focus on the events in Ukraine and the Eurasian integration.
