Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has approved international agreements signed between Turkmenistan and Romania in Ashgabat on October 11, 2012 an official Turkmen source said on Saturday.

Romanian President Traian Basescu made an official visit to Turkmenistan.

An action plan for the period of 2013-2014 between the foreign ministers of both countries, a memorandum of understanding between Turkmen Ministry of Finance and Romanian National Office for Prevention and Control of Money Laundering on cooperation in the exchange of financial information relating to money laundering and financing terrorism and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of transport were signed in the framework of the visit.

The agreement on establishment of a joint working group to "identify and recommend the best route for Black Sea - Caspian Sea commodity-transport corridor using the advantages of Constanta and Turkmenbashi ports" was a special issue on agenda.

Formation of new Eurasian transport corridor is envisaged. In particular, Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transport is researching the possibilities of transporting goods, including liquefied gas to Constanta. The use of special containers is planned and the supply route runs across the Caspian Sea to Baku (Azerbaijan), and further to Batumi or Poti (Georgia, the Black Sea region) by rail following to Romania by sea.
