Uzbekistan Airways (Uzbekiston Havo Yullari) carried 2.636 million passengers in 2012, CEO of Uzbekistan Airways, Valery Tyan said on Monday.

As previously reported, in 2011, the airline carried 2.322 million passengers. Thus, growth in passenger traffic in 2011 was 13.5 percent.

According to the company, last year, Uzbekistan Airways operated 24,835 flights (1.6 growth).

Cargo transportation decreased by 17 per cent, reaching 40,000 tons.

According to Valeriy Tyan, decrease in cargo transportation is due to the general trend of reduction of freight traffic in the world, caused by crisis and decline in industrial production.

According to the Director General of the airline, fleet renewal of the airline will continue this year as well. Delivery of two more Boeing-767-300-ER is expected for March.

As reported, two Boeing-767-300-ER aircrafts joined the airline's fleet in 2012.
In 2013, the airline is also planning to get the last of the seven IL-114-100 aircrafts, construction of which is to be completed at the GAO "TAPC". Currently, the airline operates six Il-114-100 aircrafts.

Uzbekistan Airways is the state owned monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan.

The fleet includes 29 western aircrafts, including eleven Boeing (four Boeing 767-300, five Boeing 757-200 and two Boeing 767-300-ER), thirteen Airbus (three A310 and ten Airbus A320-200), three medium-RJ-85, and two cargo A300 -600F planes.
