Georgian president urges int’l community to prevent possible aggression against Ukraine

Tbilisi, Georgia, March 2
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has made a special statement in connection with Ukraine's events.

"The dangerous processes in Ukraine and, in particular, in the Crimea are being observed today," according to the statement. "The passports issued by the Russian Federation in the territory of other country, strengthening of the military infrastructure and troops, as well as the decision of protecting the interests of countrymen by the armed forces are the flagrant interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign country. This contradicts the fundamental documents of the UN and the OSCE."

The Georgian president believes that the basic principles of the international law are disregarded. These actions pose a threat to the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

President Margvelashvili urged the international community to prevent a new conflict in Europe and to use all available means to prevent possible aggression and to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
