All polling stations for the Georgian presidential election started their work, CEC spokeswoman Eka Azarashvili said at the first briefing of the Central Election Commission.

According to her, they haven't managed to contact the two polling stations in the mountainous Svaneti yet.

It should be noted that some polling stations were opened with delays due to technical problems.

The candidate from the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili has already voted in the election and called on everyone to come to the election and said that he is confident in his victory.

The polling stations were opened at 8.00am and will be closed at 20.00pm.

According to the CEC, the number of voters able to vote in the Georgian election is 3,537,719. Around 3,655 polling stations and 34 additional special constituencies will be opened in the country.

Around 50 polling stations will operate outside of Georgia. Around 48,458 Georgian citizens living or staying abroad on official affairs will be able to vote there.

According to the CEC, some 60 local organizations (19,746 observers) and 65 international organizations (1,241 observers) were registered for holding monitoring in the 2013 election.

About 152 organizations (1,381 journalists) were accredited among media outlet, some 84 of which are foreign medias.

Around 23 contenders were officially registered as presidential candidates. Among them are the representative of the 'Georgian Dream' ruling coalition Giorgi Margvelashvili, former Speaker Nino Burjanadze, candidate from the 'United National Movement' former ruling party David Bakradze and others.
