Turkey wants Tunisia to explain its comments about facilitating terrorism

On Thursday, Tunisian Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche claimed that Turkey served as a "passage point" for jihadists travelling to Syria or Libya where the Islamic State is operating.

"Tunisia by no means accused Turkey," Tunisian Ambassador Mohamed Salah Tekaya told the Turkish Foreign Ministry, as cited by the newspaper.

The envoy added that Tunisia appreciated Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus' participation in the commemoration march after the Bardo Museum Attack in Tunis. The IS claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Turkey is believed to be a country through the territory of which people travel to join Islamic State militants who are operating in Iraq, Egypt and Nigeria, apart from Syria and Libya.
