Baku 2015 has today released its official mobile application, building on the success of its multiple award-winning Flame website, according to Baku 2015 European Games Communications Team press release.

The new app is in both English and Azerbaijani, and provides all the latest news and up-to-date information for the first European Games, as well as offering full social media interactivity.

Users will be able to watch all Baku 2015 competitions live, and will have access to extensive information on venues, sports, and the 6,000 athletes who will take part in the Games.

Big in Baku, the website showcasing the best of the European Games' host city (accessible here: biginbaku.com), will feature as a dedicated social media section in the app.

Meanwhile, Baku 2015's cutting-edge Flame website (flame.baku2015.com), which invites users to follow a virtual Journey of the Flame - the inaugural European Games' torch relay - has won three awards since its launch on 26 April.

The Flame was named Site of the Day for 30 May by the Awwwards jury, which aims to "recognize the talent and effort of the best web designers, developers and agencies in the world." The Awwwards are considered one of the most important distinctions in the digital world, and the Flame site will be included in the annual 'Best 365 Websites Around The World' publication later this year.

The Flame was also awarded 'Site of the Day' for 18 May by CSS Reel, after gaining the same recognition two days earlier from CSS Awards.

The site is a unique virtual journey through Azerbaijan, in which users can upload their own images of their favourite locations along the Baku 2015 Journey of the Flame. Using advanced digital design combined with extensive social media participation, the Flame has raised anticipation for the inaugural European Games across the country and beyond, drawing interest from the continent's web community and sports fans alike.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place from 12 - 28 June 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. Almost 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Twelve of the sports will offer qualification opportunities for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Those sports include Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Cycling, Judo, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Volleyball and Wrestling.

Baku was awarded the Games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012. The Baku European Games Operations Committee (BEGOC) will organise and run the Games in cooperation with the EOC.
