In connection with the final match of the UEFA Europa League between Arsenal and Chelsea, which will be held in Baku, wine prices are expected to rise by 10 percent, the Executive Director of the Association of Wine Producers and Exporters of Azerbaijan Ilham Hidayatov told Trend.

The rise in prices for low-alcohol beverages such as beer will be over 30 percent, he noted.

"The quality of wines offered to the consumer market is high and there is a very strict control on them. There is a wide range of wines on the Azerbaijani market. Azerbaijani wines are known in European countries, so sales will increase," Hidayatov said.

According to the director, a sports event expands opportunities for the development of wine tourism.

"In Azerbaijan, state level work is underway to popularize local wines. Azerbaijani wines are unique in taste, so the volume of sales in foreign markets may increase. There is a special demand for grape wines. The European market and China have great potential in terms of importing Azerbaijani wine products," he added.

The final match will be attended by over 30,000 foreign fans who arrive in Baku on special charter flights. Some 450 buses will be available for the convenient and safe transportation of the fans.

The UEFA Europa League final match between the English clubs Arsenal and Chelsea will take place at the 68,000-seat Baku Olympic Stadium.

The match will start at 23:00 (GMT+4).
