No major cases of Frost Bite Observed in Azerbaijan: Azerbaijani Ministry

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 January / corr Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / No major cases of frost bite were observed amongst the soldiers in Azerbaijan despite the sharp drop in temperature in the country which has continued for several days

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry informed Trend on 11 January that only one soldier suffered from frost bite. He is name as Heydar Safarov, a soldier from military division N in the territory of Gazakh District, who was placed the Military Hospital in Ganja. His current state is reported to be satisfactory.

A tight temperature control has been maintained in the hospitals due to the cold weather in the country and definite measures have been taken to improve the heating system.

Since 4 January frosty weather and heavy snowfall has been observed in Azerbaijan. The record low temperature was noted in Baku during the nights of 7 and 8 January. The temperature dropped to minus 6o -8o in Baku and the Absheron peninsular. Such low temperatures are unusual for Baku at the beginning of January. Over the last century the frostiest weather was observed in 1935 at minus 3.5o.

According to the weather forecast, frosty and unsettled weather will continue in Azerbaijan until the end of this week.
