"PACE Supports Azerbaijan’s Territorial Integrity" – President
Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 July / Trend corr I.Alizade/ Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) supports territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. "The resolution which was passed during PACE summer session recognizes and supports territorial integrity of Azerbaijan," PACE President Luis Maria de Puig said to journalists in Baku on 1 July.
By 3 July Puig, whose visit to Azerbaijan began yesterday evening, will hold several meetings - with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, Speaker Ogtay Asadov, Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, as well as with the members of Azerbaijan's delegation to PACE, representatives of political parties and civil society, journalists and foreign diplomatic corps in Baku.
According to Puig, he will focus on negotiations with authorities to improve democratic processes in the country. "I am completely confident Azerbaijan is on its way to democracy. Human rights are ensured here and a jural state is being established," he said.
"The role of the Council of Europe in protection of human rights and in building of a jural state in Azerbaijan will be discussed during the meetings," Puig said.
