Afghanistan, Kabul, 5 November / Trend corr. A. Hakimi/ Residents say an air-strike killed dozens of civilians in southern province
Kandahar residents have accused the US-led coalition of bombing a wedding party
and killing dozens of women and children.
Kandahar's police chief said coalition forces targeted a 300-strong gathering
of Taliban militants in the Shah Wali Kot area of the southern province on
Tuesday night, but he failed to say anything about casualties.
Local residents said coalition forces launched the strikes after a US convoy came under attack from Taliban militants in the area.
A Taliban spokesman said the bombing raid killed tens of civilians at a wedding
party, including the bride and groom.
The US military said it was looking into the claims of civilian casualties.
Locals told news agencies that the bombs hit the female side of the wedding
party and one witness said he saw 50 dead bodies.
