The social movement "Defend Georgia" founded by Levan Gachechiladze, Georgian ex-presidential candidate, leader of the radical opposition will visit regions and hold meetings with the population beginning from Aug.10.
Some 8 regional offices and committees of the movement in villages will be established by September, Gachechiladze told journalists at the presentation of the movement's plan.
The apolitical movement plans to establish professional congresses, which will serve as independent trade union and join the citizens of the professional grounds to protect them.
"I can say that we will not participate in attempts of overthrowing the government by force and also in mayor elections to be held by authorities," Gachechiladze said, stressing that the society's task is to protect citizens and peaceful change of power.
The initiative group will hold meetings with the public each month.
