Status of Caspian is important for Iranian gov't: parliamentary commission spokesman

Henceforth, the Parliament will seriously focus on the issues relating to the status of the Caspian Sea, said Kazem Jalali, Spokesman of the Iranian Parliamentary Commission on foreign policy and National Security.

"Status of the Caspian Sea is very important for the government and parliament of Iran. In this regard, on Oct. 8, the Iranian city of Rasht will host a meeting on the Caspian Sea," Jalali said to Trend in a telephone conversation from Tehran on Oct. 7.

He said the commission aims to fulfill the duties of control associated with the Caspian Sea, to study of recent data on the Caspian Sea, to expand cooperation among agencies engaged in the Caspian Sea.

The meeting will be attended by Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, members of the Iranian Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and National Security, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, officials of the ministries of oil, transport, environment and customs, as well as port and shipping of Iran, said Jalali.
