Georgia's ruling party and opposition attach great importance to U.S Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Vershbow's Georgia visit and regard it as another manifestation of the U.S support to Georgia.

Vershbow's visit will be in the format of the Georgia-U.S security and cooperation group established under the Georgian-American charter.

"We are entering a phase of implementation of the Charter, which implies the effective cooperation in political and economic spheres, as well as in security matters," Georgian MP from the parliamentary majority Georgi Kandelaki said.

Leader of the National Democratic Party Bachuki Kardava regards this visit as important from a military point of view, besides political pressure.

The charter stipulates provision of military assistance to Georgia and this is a key component of the Georgian-American cooperation, and the visit is important from that point of view, Kardava said.
