Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow is visiting Tokyo this week. He invited Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama to visit Turkmenistan during a return visit.
The proposal was accepted with gratitude. The date of the visit will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels, a Turkmen state press service reported.
Berdimuhammedov is in Japan on his first official visit to the country.
A meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation was held in the framework of hi strop. Several contracts were signed with Japanese companies and Turkmengaz and Turkmenhimiya.
According to the Turkmen Economic Development Ministry, as of Dec. 1, three ventures with Japanese capital were registered in Turkmenistan.
