Co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee Matyas Eorsi and Kastriot Islami met with opposition leaders in Tbilisi March 22. Levan Gachechiladze, co-founder of public movement Protect Georgia, said after the meeting that "elections are already rigged today," because "it is impossible to achieve a victory in this election environment."
"The election is already rigged, and this happens for many reasons - because of the control the media outlets, political violence, which is carried out against our activists," he said.
According to Gachechiladze, he hasn't yet decided to participatein the elections.
The meeting was also attended by the leader of Alliance for Georgia Irakli Alasania, who called the meeting effective.
"The meeting was substantial. It basically was about existing problems in the electoral system, pre-election processes. Representatives of the Council of Europe made a promise that these issues will be discussed at a meeting with the chairmen of the CEC and the authorities," Irakli Alasania said after talks.
According to him, issues on occupied territories and threats, which can be realized by Russia wss also discussed.
According to the representative of the Christian Democrats Niki Laliashvili, the meeting mostly referred to violations in the pre-election period, in particular inaccuracies in voter lists and facts of use of administrative resources.
