Azerbaijan, Baku, March 27 / Trend , M. Aliyev /

The Azerbaijani opposition party Umid intends to establish an electoral bloc.

"We support the establishment of an independent electoral bloc. If this fails, then we do not intend to join any block," UMID Chairman Igbal Agazadeh said.

The Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA) proposed the creation of a new electoral bloc with Azadlig and Umid. Talks are underway between the DPA and Azadlig on the issue.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn 2010. Previous elections were held in November 2005. The elections will be held according to a majority system.

"Azadlig hesitatingly sees Umid's proposal for a new electoral bloc," DPA Chairman Sardar Jalaloglu told Trend .

Another bloc can be formed during the talks, but it should be established by Umid.

"Otherwise, our party will not enter in any electoral bloc," Agazadeh said.
