Armenian police arrested a journalist working in Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Times), Ani Gevorgian May 31 accusing her of hooliganism.

The Georgian media reported that director of the newspaper Anna Akopyan said at a press conference held in Yerevan today that the detention of the journalist is an act of personal vengeance by the head of the Armenian Police Alik Sarkisian.

She said the police chief was angry with the last article of Ani Gevorgian. She wrote that the Armenian police stole the anthem of the Georgian police and used it to advertise Alik Sarkisian.

Akopyan said that if the police did not release the journalist, then Sarkisian will face "severe discomfort".
