The CEC held its first extended session. The chairman of the CEC Mazahir Panahov spoke at the meeting. According to the Azerbaijani parliamentary decision, the CEC appointed new members, he said.

Panahov said that this is the representative of the Musavat Party Gulaga Aslanli, the representative from the United Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Mikail Rahimov and the representative of non-party MPs Arif Mukhtarov.

The chairman of the CEC wished them success in their work. He expressed confidence that their activities will take place within the requirements of the Electoral Code of the Azerbaijani Republic.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies.
