712 candidates registered for participation at parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan

712 candidates willing to participate at the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan have been registered so far, Mazahir Panahov, the chairman of Central Election Commission (CEC) reported on its session held on Saturday.

712 candidates willing to participate at the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan have been registered so far, Mazahir Panahov, the chairman of Central Election Commission (CEC) reported on its session held on Saturday. 

According to him, registrations of 332 people have been rejected and the examination of documents relevant to 71 people has been rejected at district electoral commissions (DEC). Panahov noted that at CEC it has been registered 296 international and 1325 local observers for observation over elections. At DEC applications of 9236 people have been registered for observation. Among them 2613 people have appealed for observation by own initiative and 5308 people have been nominated by political parties and party blocs.   

At the CEC session appeals received have been considered too. The secretary of CEC Natig Mamedov and members of CEC reported about appeals entered. It was noted that they have received complaints mainly from blocs of political parties "PFPA-Musavat", "Karabakh", Azerbaijani National Independence Party (ANIP) and independent candidates. Appeals were related to non-registration of candidates.

After consideration of appeals received relevant decisions have been adopted on Commission's session.

The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. The official start for elections was declared on September 3.
Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
