The U.S. has spoken out against the sale of T-129 ATAK helicopters by Turkey to Pakistan, Haber 7 TV channel reported on Thursday.
According to the TV channel, the U.S authorities explained that the engine of the T-129 ATAK helicopters is of American production and special permission is necessary for their export.
Turkish-made ATAK combat helicopters are part of the state programme aimed at providing the Turkish army with arms, equipment and outfit of domestic production. Currently, Turkey has achieved self-sufficiency in this sector standing at 50 per cent.
ATAK helicopters can reach speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour, to fly in any weather conditions and poor visibility.
