UNESCO supported the initiative of Azerbaijan on two projects aimed at the protection of intangible cultural heritage of Bangladesh and Guatemala.

Azerbaijan's initiative on the implementation of these projects has been supported and highly appreciated by UNESCO at the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said Nov.25.

UNESCO Secretariat, president of the committee, as well as representatives of Bangladesh and Guatemala expressed their gratitude to Azerbaijan.

Financial support will be provided by the Foundation of trust established on the basis of a framework agreement between Azerbaijan and UNESCO signed in 2013 on the initiative and with the participation of the First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, MP, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO Mehriban Aliyeva.

Speaking at the meeting, the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to UNESCO Anar Karimov said that the assistance of the country to UNESCO's activity is an indication of good will of the republic in the development of culture on an international level.
