South Caucasus Russians’ Issues Being Discussed in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Agayeva / Cooperation in the humanitarian sphere and a plan for taking measures for this year, as well as activities of the Russians of South Caucasus countries are being held by the Russian Diasporas at the Regional Conference of Compatriots which commenced on 12 April in Baku. The Head of the Russian Community in Azerbaijan, MP Mikhail Zabelin, said in the opening of the conference, that the conference will focus on the policy of the Russian State with regards to compatriots. The Department Chief of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Secretary of the Governmental Commission for Support of Russians Abroad, Alexander Chepurin, said that Russians residing abroad are supported by the Governmental Commission established according to the 1994 decree ordered by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin. The concrete actions to support Russian residing abroad are being implemented on the base of the State Program on Work with Russians Residing Abroad (2006-2008).
