Members of Ruling Party Hold Protest Action in Azerbaijani Region

Azerbaijan, Guba/ Trend , corr. A. Gafarov/ A group of members of the ruling New Azerbaijan party ( YAP) held an action to protest against the genocide committed against Azerbaijanis by Armenians in the district of Guba. Today's protest action was organized close to Guba Stadium, where a mass grave of Azerbaijanis was recently found.

Gahraman Aghayev, a research worker of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, told participants at the event that remains found there were related to mass murders committed by Armenians in 1918.

According to him, the first results of the research and studies conducted in this area have proved the aforesaid. Ali Ahmadov, the Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), said that organizing today's action, the organizers have been guided by the fact that 24 April is the next anniversary of the so-called imaginary Armenian "genocide".

Vaheed Ahmadov, a Member of Parliament, who also took part in the protest action, said that the Milli Majlis would take concrete measures in accordance to the conclusion made by the National Academy of Sciences. The MP noted that in order to bring to the attention of the international community the fact of genocide committed against Azerbaijanis by Armenians, it would be necessary to erect a monument to this tragedy that would certainly spark the interest of tourists visiting this Azerbaijani region.

Evda Abramov, a member of Parliament elected from the Guba Constituency, said that the proof obtained here would be submitted to the US Senate, UN General Assembly and other superior and authoritative international organizations and agencies. Representatives of the Turkish Embassy to Azerbaijan, who also took part in the action, were horrified at what happened here in 1918. Another fact on annihilation of Turkic people by Armenians would be brought to the notice of official Ankara.
