Open Society Party of Azerbaijan to Sign Bilateral Co-operation Agreements with Several Opposition Parties

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Alizade / The Open Society Party of Azerbaijan will sign bilateral co-operation agreements with several opposition parties, said party's Chairman, Akif Shahbazov, on 26 July.

"Our key goal is to unite opposition parties in a broader form and jointly fight for creating democratic electoral atmosphere," Shahbazov added.

According to Shahbazov, to sign bilateral agreements, they have held discussions with Azerbaijan National Independence Party, Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, Azerbaijan Liberal Party, Azerbaijan Great Establishment Party and several NGOs.

The Open Society Party was founded in April 2007. Rasul Guliyev, Azerbaijan's former Speaker, is the head of the party. Guliyev and his supporters separated from the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan in February 2007 and established the Open Society Party.
