Azerbaijani’s Federal National Cultural Autonomy Will Not Join any Bloc before Elections in Russia - President

Russia, Moscow / Тrend corr R. Agayev / The Federal National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis (FNCA) in Russia will not join any bloc of political movements before the elections to the Russian Parliament. "We will not sign agreements with any political party, movement or bloc even after the parliamentary elections," the president of FNCA AzerRos Soyun Sadikhov said.

On the threshold of the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2 December, the governing Unified Russia called upon political movements, including the FNCA, to unify and sign an Agreement on interaction and cooperation. Twenty-one national and public organizations of Russia, including the Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis, joined the Agreement.

It is unpleasant that AzerRos is regarded as sort of support in political arrangements and they want us to join Unified Russia, Sadikhov said to Trend on 14 November.

"On the one hand, it is of course good that they apply to us for support, and the call to undersign the Agreement is proof of that. So, they consider us to be a powerful public organization.... FNCA AzerRos, without false modesty, has become a powerful and strong organization as it has been actively and successfully working for the good of Russia for many years, assists in keeping peace, friendship and concord among nations in the country, opposes xenophobia, extremism, fascism and so on." But the fact that Azerbaijanis in Russia were remembered only now is rather unpleasant," Sadikhov said.

FNCA equally regards all and is open to cooperation with all those consolidating constructive forces in Russia for the sake of prosperity of the country and well-being of its citizens, assists in close cooperation between state power bodies and public organizations to meet ethnic and cultural requests of the population, he said.
