Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend E.Huseynli / The Government of Azerbaijan is prepared for discussions with international organizations to make amendments and annexes to the Law on Freedom of Assembly, the Head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Public-Political Department, Ali Hasanov stated.
"The working group established to make amendments and annexes to the law has prepared a pack of proposals and will submit it to the Venice Commission in the near future," Hasanov said.
Political forces of Azerbaijan confirm that the Law on Freedom of Assembly presents obstacles in holding demonstrations. Therefore, they made an appeal to international organizations for an improvement of the law.
According to Hasanov, the Government of Azerbaijan has no serious remarks regarding the law, which was devised with the participation of Venice Commission experts. However, after demonstrations before the previous Presidential elections, international organizations and internal political forces highlighted the existence of difficulties in implementing the law. After this, appealing to the Venice Commission, the Government of Azerbaijan expressed its readiness to hold discussions for improving the law.
