Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.29 / Trend , M.Aliyev /
The Azerbaijani Education Ministry will increase teachers' proficiency next year.
A mechanism has been created to improve teachers' skills, Education Minister Misir Mardanov said at a press conference. According to the official, training sessions for primary school teachers in computer science and English will begin next year.
"The total number of teachers fell from 173,000 to 170,000 in Azerbaijani schools in 2009. This is not related to teachers being dismissed. It is related to a more careful selection of teachers," the minister said.
According to Mardanov, the ministry prepared 35 documents under the new education law and they are currently under examination by the relevant institutions.
